OUTDOOR ADVENTURES NATURE CAMP

Are you a nature-lover seeking a fun adventure with endless activities? Look no further! This week-long adventure camp includes games, educational activities, crafts, social interaction, sports, and gaming for ages 6-12 and occurs Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The participant fee includes admission tickets for two planned field trips (e.g., San Diego Zoo, SeaWorld Educational Program), camp shirts, recreation supplies, games, crafts, and transportation.

Free Teen Nite Program

Looking for a safe place for your teenager to hang out with friends on Friday nights? We’re offering a fun, eight-week, drop-in program for kids age 12-17. There will be a variety of activities available such as ping pong, video games, arts and crafts, sports, tournaments, special events and more. Flexibility is provided for younger family members. These activities occur every Friday night from July 8th to August 29, 2022 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The program is designed to create a positive, engaging, and safe zone for teens. Food will be provided.

Aquatics | Learn to Swim

Learn to swim today! We’re calling swimmers of all skill levels from ages 6 months to 15 years old to learn water safety awareness and life-saving aquatic skills with a 90-minute swim lesson. Call individual locations for more information. Registration is conducted at each site.

Aquatics | Jr. Pool Guard Program

The City of San Diego Aquatics Junior Lifeguard Program is a modified version of the American Red Cross’ Junior Lifeguarding class. This program provides a foundation of aquatic leadership knowledge and skills for future successful completion of the Red Cross Lifeguarding Course. Participants will work towards being able to pass the Water Competency Sequence and will learn Fitness and Swimming Skills; Prevention of Aquatic Accidents; Response to Aquatic Emergencies; First Aid & CPR Skills and will be introduced to many important skills and aspects of being a Pool Guard. This program is designed to prepare children of all abilities (ages 8-15) to enter the City’s WAVE/SAVE program once they are 15 ½ years old in age. Lights, Camera, Action! Spread out your blanket or set up your chair and watch your favorite movie under the stars at a “Summer Movies in the Park” near you! The event series began in 2007 as a ‘take back our parks’ initiative, giving residents a reason to visit their local county and city parks for a free and safe evening event. This year, we’re expanding the number of movie nights offered at City of San Diego recreation centers from 9 locations to 23 locations. “Summer Movies in the Park” is the perfect way for friends and families to spend a night under the stars while exploring the beauty and diversity of parks and recreation facilities throughout San Diego. Not only does it provide a fun challenge for the summer – it gives kids a foundation for skills they need to succeed in the 21st century.

Artist Studio

Children are by nature creative and Artist Studio is designed to encourage the natural interest and curiosities that kids display. In this creative themed art camp, children will ignite their imagination, develop concentration, build confidence, develop new skills and have fun. Using real artists materials including watercolors, tempera paints, oil pastels, children create masterpieces that are truly unique.

Robothink

Robothink supports STEM goals by fostering creativity, problem-solving and innovative thinking. Always encourage children to ask questions, discover answers and think outside the box. Each day the participants build robots or video games, following step-by-step instructions, and continue their learning by improving, fixing, customizing, and playing with their cook robotics or video game creations.

Youth Tennis

Learn how to play tennis in a fun, safe, and engaging environment. These sporty camps incorporate physical conditioning, stamina, and strength training. Campers will learn basic tennis shots such as ground, slice, volley, and serve. Participants will also learn how to keep score.

Skateboard Camp

Discover the fun of skateboarding and trick development while learning skateboard etiquette and safety. Build your confidence by pushing your limits, play skateboarding games, gain agility, balance coordination and speed while learning tricks. This camp occurs Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for 12 participants ages 6-13.

Basketball Skills Clinics

The youth baseball program is designed to develop and enhance players fundamental skills in a friendly and team-oriented environment.The City of San Diego Park and Recreation Department is committed to providing a safe, fun and skill-developing Youth Sports Programs for children. Clinics available for youth from ages 8 to 14 years old, and teams are divided into age divisions. Qualified teams will get a chance to participate in the City-Wide tournament hosted by the S.P.O.R.T.S. Committee at the end of the season.

Football Clinic

This Football Clinic is to allow kids to have fun playing flag football with their friends, in an organized fashion, with safety as a main element of consideration. The skills sets developed will include passing, receiving, blocking, offensive and defensive position play, and an overall athletic development in flag football.

This cheer class will cover the basics of cheerleading and routine work. Introduction to jumps, stunts, and basic motions. Conditioning incorporated for the overall strength of athlete.

Our teacher led gymnastics classes for the young gymnast are full of action and imaginative play. Classes are designed to develop gymnastics using progressions on ‘kid sized’ equipment: bars, balance beam, floor, air-floor and mini trampoline while promoting learning, cooperative play, safety and FUN!

SUMMER DAY CAMP

Summer Day Camp is for children ages 6-12. Kids will participate in a variety of activities, arts and crafts, games, sports, as they have fun in a safe environment. Weekly fee includes lunch and snack.

AQUATICS | POOL GUARD RECRUIT PROGRAM

The Pool Guard Recruit Program provides kids ages 16– 18 years old with swimming lessons and teaches safety and emergency response skills while preparing youth for future employment in the City of San Diego Aquatics Division. Participants learn how to swim, improve their strokes, and obtain lifesaving and leadership skills. After three hours per day, three days per week (for a total of 93 hours of instruction per participant.) Junior swimmers can obtain required certifications to apply for Pool Guard positions. There are 100 open positions. The final day of instruction includes a six-hour field trip to the beach! Call Colina Del Sol Recreation Center (619) 235-1147 for registration information.
